Barbra is a single, disabled woman living with HIV/AIDS. She has been very proactive in her recovery and is very motivated in changing her life for the better. Barbra was accepted into a subsidized apartment program but had no furniture. Make a Home was able to provide Barbra with home furnishings so she could get her new life started.
Bob is a veteran who was homeless for over 20 years. With the help of Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing, Bob and his wife were able to obtain a two-bedroom apartment. Unfortunately Bob and his wife were unable to afford home furnishing . With the help of Bob’s agency, Make a Home Foundation was able to provide Bob and his wife with the household items and furniture they needed to make their new apartment a home.
Phil is a veteran who served in the military for over 10 years. After losing job Phil and his wife became homeless for over a year. Phil developed issues with substance abuse. Eventually Phil and his wife were able to receive housing assistant and moved into a one bedroom apartment. Though, Phil and his wife were able to get an apartment, they were not able to afford furniture. They were left to sleep on an air mattress. Make a Home was able to get them a bed, a mattress and other home furnishings that they needed to get their life back on track. Phil got help for his substance abuse problem and is now in a position to live a healthier and happier life.
